2019 Program

The 2019 Teacher Excellence Awards were held at the REX Hotel in September with the following 2019-SHteachers being selected for Awards;

Congratulations to Steven Hackett (Daramalan College) being awarded the 2019 Technology Teacher Excellence Award receiving his award from Kurt Seemann (Assoc. Professor, School of Design, Swinburne University, Melbourne)



Taylor Britton (Kingsford Smith School) awarded the 2019 Technology Teacher Merit Certificate receiving his award from Ruth Thompson (Past President NSW Institute of Industrial Technology)


Seminar 5 – CIT Reid2019-CIT-J1

The CIT – Reid seminar was certainly inspirational due to the facilities available to engage students. Julianne Abbot and Piers Douglas highlighting the cognitive processes of students during their development at CIT.

Seminar 4 – Marist Catholic College Canberra2019-Marist2

Thank you to Terence Pereira (Head of Technology and Applied Studies) and his staff for an insightful presentation of student development at Marist College. The presentation was followed with a walk-through the new Technology and Art rooms.


Seminar 3 – University of Canberra

Hosted by Bill Shelley from the Faculty of Art and Design. This was an engaging presentation by Bill and his team of educational professionals highlighting the transition from secondary to tertiary education.



STEMed Conference on Friday and Saturday 5-6 April was a huge success with excellent attendance from all Teaching Associations in Canberra.IMG_3157

Professor Ian Chubb (former Chief Scientist of Australia) was one of the Keynote speakers on the Saturday morning.

Girls in STEM is a high priority at the School:

Year 10 students designing and making a prosthetic limb using hydraulics to drive the different components.

The 2017 Technology Teacher Excellence Award was presented to Janette Kline from Daramalan College by DATTA ACT Life Member – Gayle Jenkins at the Yowani Country Club, Lyneham.


2016 Technology Teacher of the Year Excellence Award

DATTA ACT hosted the 2016 Technology Teacher Awards on Lake Burley Griffin in September. screen-shot-2016-10-17-at-8-57-11-pmThe announced of the awardee was made by Professor Lyndon Anderson (University of Canberra), Cathleen Jackson – Radford College technology teacher was awarded the top award for exception teaching.
